Our leadership team includes experts with diverse experience in oil & gas, refining, chemicals and energy industries. Many have served in key roles for major corporations such as Honeywell, Reliance, etc. The core team has been in place since inception and brings an integrated team approach that is committed to satisfying the client’s needs.


Vibhu Sharma
Chairman & CEO

Vibhu is responsible for strategic vision, business development, & alliances. He is a Co-Founder of Ingenious. Vibhu brings with him experience of over 15 years in diverse areas such as process simulation, planning & scheduling, process consulting, investment analysis, and business development.

Prior to Ingenious, Vibhu was a consultant with Kamdar Simulator Services and responsible for developing dynamic simulation models for refining and petrochemical companies. Vibhu is a graduate in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University, USA, and obtained his BS in Chemical Engineering from ICT (formerly UDCT), Mumbai University, India.

President & Co-Founder

Bharat is responsible for day to day operations of the company, including project management of major initiatives. He is the Co-founder of Ingenious and a key part of the executive team. Bharat brings with him over 30 years experience in the field of dynamic simulation and process engineering services.

Prior to Ingenious, Bharat was the Engineering Manager for the Advanced simulation business for Honeywell in Houston. Before that he was an Engineering Manager for AutoDynamics (Trident) in New Jersey and managed major dynamic simulation projects.

Bharat obtained his MS in Chemical Engineering, Tufts University, USA, and a BS in Chemical Engineering, ICT (formerly UDCT), Mumbai University, India.

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

José is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Ingenious with over 20 years of core experience in advanced applications and the in-house GURU on all things related to software. José is responsible for the software development team, and development, management and enhancement of our line of advanced solutions.

Prior to Ingenious, José was a lead development engineer for Honeywell and operated out of their offices in Venezuela, Singapore and Houston. José has a BS in Electronics Engineering from Simon Bolivar University, Caracas, Venezuela.

Vinod is a Director of Ingenious’ Indian operations and is responsible for day to day financial and administration management of the fast growing subsidiary. Vinod has been part of the executive team since inception.

He holds a Master’s in Commerce in Bombay University, India, a Bachelor’s in Commerce in Bombay University, India, and an LLB (legal degree), Bombay University.

Prof M. M. Sharma

Professor of Eminence
Bombay University

Prof Sharma is one of the World’s foremost experts in chemical engineering. He is a celebrated consultant and has advised some of the top companies in the world including Dow, DuPont, Reliance, Sabic, etc. Professor Sharma is the former Director of Institute of Chemical Technology (formerly UDCT) and was the chair in chemical engineering for several decades. His career span of over 40 years in the chemical industry includes Padmavibhushan, one of the highest civilian national awards. Prof Sharma was the first engineer in India to be awarded the Fellow of Royal Society of London (FRS).

Prof Sharma is a PhD from Cambridge University and an International Fellow: National Academy of Engineering. He presently serves as a Director: Reserve Bank of India (Federal Reserve), and serves on the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Prime Minister of India. Prof Sharma is also the Chairman of Governing council of IIT Chennai.

Thomas J. Van Laan

Thomas J. Van Laan is a successful entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in the engineering and software fields. He began his career at the Bechtel Corporation, worked at Ebasco Services and Scientific Software Intercomp, and most recently held the position of Senior Vice President at Intergraph Corporation. Most noteworthy was the 14 years that he served as CEO of COADE, Inc. (developers of CAESAR II, CADWorx, and PV Elite), presiding over the company’s growth to become one of the preeminent engineering software providers to the plant and process industry. COADE was recently acquired by Intergraph Corporation.

Tom received his BS in Civil Engineering from MIT, an MBA from the New York Institute of Technology, and an MS in Computer Science from Pace University. Additionally he has earned Professional Engineering licenses in three states, is co-author of the engineering textbook Piping and Pipe Support Systems: Design and Engineering, and currently serves as a mentor at the Surge Energy Software Accelerator (Houston, TX).

Ms. Viswanathan is the former VP and Director of Operations for the Houston Technology Center (HTC), the largest technology incubator in Texas. Prior to that she was a product engineer at Motorola, specializing in wireless and semiconductor technologies.

She has an MBA from Rice University’s Jones School and a BS and MS in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas, Austin.

Vice President - Client Development –
Caesar Systems

Jim Thom’s current position is at Caesar Systems as Vice President - Client Development. Prior to his position at Caesar Systems , Jim held positions as VP Sales and Business Development - Spectraseis, Director of Partners and Strategy at JewelSuite and Regional Manager of the Middle East with Fugro-Jason. His current focus is to demonstrate and help facilitate Oil and Gas companies’ utilization of decision analysis and process in conjunction with software systems such as PetroVR to integrate, and better understand projects and then use the insights gained to optimize the return on capital, assets and personnel deployed on projects. Prior to rejoining the oil and gas business he worked at Xerox and IBM where he developed outsourcing strategies for major corporations based in the western United States and Canada. Over the past 15 years, Jim has worked in multiple oil and gas basins in Canada, the United States, Brazil and throughout the Middle East and East Africa in both exploration and development scenarios. Jim holds a BSc in mathematics and physics from the University of Alberta.
